Technology:
The concert is driven by two Apple MacBook Pro computers. The first runs Apple Logic Audio which provides surround playback, clicktracks for performers, and softsynths for Mark Ayres. The output is fed to front of house and the monitor desk via a MOTU Traveler Firewire interface.
The second MacBook Pro is looked after by Peter Howell and runs Apple's MainStage. As well as hosting Peter's softsynths, this machine submixes all of the original vintage hardware into five stereo pairs which are sent to front of house - one stereo pair each for Roger, Paddy, Peter and Mark, and a fifth for effects. The interface here is a MOTU Traveler Mk3, which also has two MOTU 2408Mk3 interfaces attached, giving a total of 24 inputs for the hardware.
Guitars, drums, bass and brass are mic'd up in the usual way and mixed with the MacBook feeds.
There is a third Mac - a Titanium G4 Powerbook - which is synced to Mark's MacBook and supplies the video feed.
We hope to post some photos of the setup soon.
